This top floor suite is surrounded by windows looking out over our elegant Fig and other garden trees. The Fig & Ficus
The Fig & Ficus is a room with garden views- a roomy nest perched high enough to offer vistas of woods and a church steeple poking through poplar and tulip and beech trees- but most of all a privileged spot near the branch tops of our elegant Fig tree that can be seen from embroidered lace curtained dormer windows. This is a tree that as a sapling put down roots at Liberty Rose in 2007 and grew with such passion and energy it must have felt very much at home. Ficus, meaning Fig in Latin, is a tree with ancient mystical roots, known to bring good fortune and fruit that develops from what for millennia has been called “the hidden flower”.
Our Fig & Ficus suite is spacious with hidden nooks and intriguing details. The décor is vintage botanical from the vine and floral wallpapers to the four post carved wood rice bed, and the crushed green velvet tufted chaise Longue in the adjoining dormer loft. Winter white fine wool carpet and silk and cotton channel quilted bedding contrast with the dark mahogany antique furnishings including a generous French country dresser. A glass and black marble inspired shower in the bathroom meets a repurposed parquet floor. Lovely vines and florals on a dark ground cover the walls, a white porcelain pedestal sink with antique fixtures stands beneath an antique mirror, and a glass front cabinet full of plush towels and other niceties to enhance your stay. With the best views in the inn and a cloud like perch a stay in The Fig & Ficus is sure to bring good fortune to your Williamsburg visit.
